Brian Ortega’s injury

After an initial report from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, it was eventually confirmed that Brian Ortega has indeed pulled out from the upcoming UFC Fight Night Busan event due to an ACL tear that he suffered in training recently.

Ortega, who last competed in the Octagon at UFC 231 against Max Holloway, took to Instagram and posted the following:

The Featherweight fighter revealed that due to an ACL tear, he had to pull out from his scheduled fight against ‘The Korean Zombie’ but due to the tear being partial, Ortega is already in the rehabilitation stage.

Frankie Edgar remains frontrunner to replace Ortega for Busan

Following another initial report from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Frankie Edgar is reportedly the favorite to replace Brian Ortega in his scheduled fight against Chan Sung Jung on the 21st of December in Busan.

Edgar, who is currently scheduled to fight Cory Sandhagen next month, is still expected to face the latter but the UFC will only asses the entire situation once UFC Fight Night 165 is done for and following Edgar’s bout against ‘The Korean Zombie’.
