Holloway (20-4) defends his belt for the first time in 2019 when he had a bloody war with Ortega at UFC 231 and won by fourth-round TKO to run his winning streak at featherweight to 13. The 27-year-old’s overall winning streak of 13 ended in April, when he lost to Dustin Poirier by unanimous decision for the interim lightweight title at UFC 236.
Edgar (22-6-1) returns to the Octagon for the first time in 15 months, having defeated Cub Swanson by unanimous decision last April. The former lightweight champion was scheduled to face Yair Rodriguez in November, but “The Answer” had to pull out due to a torn bicep.
