Mendes opened as the +120 underdog after news of Aldo’s withdrawal broke Tuesday, but Caesars made an early odds adjustment to McGregor -130/Mendes +110.

This is the fifth time Aldo has pulled out of a fight, and not-so-pleased UFC president Dana White said McGregor and Mendes will be fighting for the interim title.

“Jose Aldo’s pulled out of five title fights,” White said on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “Conor’s ready to go. The No. 1 guy in the world, Chad Mendes, is ready to go. So it makes sense. They’ll fight for the interim title, and whenever Jose Aldo is ready, then that fight can happen to unify.”

McGregor and Mendes sport identical records of 17-2.  Both of Mendes’ losses were to Aldo, in October 2014 and January 2012.  McGregor has won 13-straight fights, his last loss coming in November 2010.   We’ll have more on the betting angles for this fight as UFC 189 approaches.
