PSG will have to overcome Bayern Munich if they’re to continue their dream of winning a first Champions League title. Meanwhile, Liverpool will get to exact revenge on Real Madrid for two final defeats in the last five seasons.

Tottenham will face a familiar foe for manager Antonio Conte: defending Serie A champions AC Milan. And American Christian Pulisic will face his former club Borussia Dortmund and U.S. national team teammate Giovanni Reyna.

Napoli have a path to the quarterfinals in what’s been a magical season for them as they landed Eintracht Frankfurt, while fellow Italian side Inter Milan will have its work cut out for it against FC Porto.

How the Champions League Round of 16 draw worked

For the November Round of 16 draw, one seeded team was selected to face one unseeded team in each of the eight matchups.

The seeded teams are those who won their groups, while the unseeded teams are those that finished in second. The unseeded teams will play at home in the first leg.

There were a few restrictions to keep in mind. Teams hailing from the same country and the same group could not be drawn against one another in the Round of 16. Both of those restrictions will be removed for the rest of the tournament from the quarterfinals through to the final.

Speaking of that quarterfinal draw: That will be held on March 17, 2023 and the semifinal draw will be held on the same day with the full path to the final mapped out.

Seeded teams in Champions League Round of 16 draw

There were only two pots for the Champions League Round of 16 draw in 2022/23.

They consisted of the seeded (group winners) and unseeded teams (group runners-up), with eight in each pot.
