In case you didn’t know… Having made his UFC debut in 2011 against Clay Guida in a winning effort, former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis competed in one of the best UFC fights’ of 2018 when he squared off against Tony Ferguson at UFC 229. Pettis, having suffered a broken hand during the fight, ended up losing the bout but certainly did not go down without a fight and it now seems like the former Lightweight Champion is all set to move one up to the Welterweight Division....

Romero fought Phil Davis at Bellator 266 last Saturday. The fight was scheduled for three rounds. However, the former UFC star said he expected it to be a five-round bout. After losing the fight via a split decision, Romero claimed he was eyeing a late victory opposite Davis in a fourth or fifth round. Reacting to Romero’s claim in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Sonnen said: Questioning Romero’s “excuse,” Sonnen wondered how the former UFC middleweight’s family, manager and even Bellator officials hadn’t informed him that his fight was scheduled for three rounds....

Derek Brunson replied by posting a photo of the Mayweather boxing club, a gym owned by renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. The exchange of words started when Derek Brunson spoke about facing Jake Paul in a tune-up fight while waiting for UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Paul was seemingly exploring options for his next opponent when he replied to Brunson. The YouTuber-turned-boxer took to Twitter to go after Jorge Masvidal and Brunson....

A source told ESPN that Ulbrich, who spent three years with UCLA, is expected to join the NFL ranks with the Falcons to oversee the team’s linebackers. Thomas Katsouleas, president of the University of Connecticut, told a journalism class that the “current thinking” is no fall NCAA sports will be played this year. Katsouleas later released a statement to clarify that no decisions have been made and that he was merely speculating. “Our hope is that we will be able to play in the fall, as planned,” Katsouleas wrote. The NCAA fall season will begin in late August....

The UEFA disciplinary panel will judge “crowd disturbances” against both clubs on Oct. 18. Red Star has also been charged for “illicit chants” inside Parc des Princes on Wednesday, though the club was banned by UEFA from selling tickets to its fans. Rival fans clashed outside the stadium after PSG won 6-1 with Neymar scoring a hat trick. UEFA also charged PSG because fans lit fireworks inside the stadium....

The three clubs are the only founding members of the breakaway competition that have so far refused to abandon the project. UEFA threatened the Spanish and Italian sides with legal action and it was reported they could be suspended from the Champions League, but it was announced in May that proceedings would be delayed after a Madrid court accused the governing body of acting “outside the rule of law.”...

If found guilty, Steaua could be kicked out of next season’s champions League. The club’s president Gigi Becali, who was already serving a prison sentence for corruption, was condemned to another three years of incarceration last week for having offered bribes to players from a rival team, Universitatea Cluj in 2008. UEFA has not divulged the exact nature of the charges laid against either Steaua or Besiktas, but said both relate to match-fixing....

Matt Brown was on the cusp of fighting for the welterweight championship. All he had to do was beat Robbie Lawler at UFC on Fox 12 last July. The balloon seemed to deflate about two weeks ago when Weidman was forced to pull out due to a neck injury. The UFC then pulled a rabbit out of the hat when Michael Bisping agreed to replace Weidman.
